Palma Blank

Who: Palma Blank (b. 1979, Norwalk, CT)

Where: Brooklyn, NY

What: Bringing 20th century color theory and minimalist concepts into the future with hard-edged optical paintings that mesmerize with layers of color and pattern

Recent News: Palma’s solo exhibition Psychonautic Traces was on view at Davidson Gallery this past July.

Luis Emilio Romero

Who: Luis Emilio Romero (b. 1996, Guatemala, raised in New Jersey)

Where: New York City

What: Tactile surfaces that appear soft to the touch are characteristic of Romero’s paintings referencing weaving processes

Recent News: Luis is completing his MFA at Hunter College this fall. His work is currently included in Arsenal Contemporary’s (214 Bowery) group exhibition Material Knowledge until August 13th.

Talia Levitt 

Who: Talia Levitt (b. 1989, Brooklyn)

Where: Brooklyn, New York

What: Still lifes, portraits, and patterned textiles find harmony in Levitt’s striking compositions 

Recent News: Talia was awarded as a New York Foundation of the Arts Painting Fellow in 2021. Her work is currently on view at Alexander Berggruen (1018 Madison Avenue) until August 31st.

Kelsey Shwetz 

Who: Kelsey Shwetz (b. Canada)

Where: New York City

What: Dreamscapes built from impressive realist painting are twisted with uncanny colors and perspective 

Recent News: Kelsey graduated with her MFA from Columbia University in May. She has an upcoming exhibition at Wetterling Gallery (Sweden) this fall.

Asher Liftin

Who: Asher Liftin (b. 1998) 

Where: New York

What: Informed by Liftin’s study of both cognitive science and visual art, his painted snapshots are fragmented to explore visual perception 

Recent News: Asher had a solo exhibition entitled Blow Up at Alessandro Albanese Gallery in Milan this past spring.

King Houndekpinkou

Who: King Houndekpinkou (b. 1987, France)

Where: Paris, France 

What: Ceramics that cross cultural, generational, and technical borders in producing viscerally creative vessels 

Recent News: King was published in Wallpaper* magazine last year. His work was exhibited at the 2022 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in New York and will be featured at Untitled Miami Beach later this year.

Jackie Head 

Who: Jackie Head (b. 1991, Indiana)

Where: Indianapolis, IN  

What: Large-scale wall works constructed from slip-cast porcelain components in eye-catching colors and placed in dynamic patterns 

Recent News: Jackie completed her MFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University this past spring. She currently has a solo show entitled Frequencies on view at the Hole(312 Bowery).

Freya Douglas-Morris 

Who: Freya Douglas-Morris (b. 1980, England)

Where: London, England 

What: Surrealist landscapes capturing the beauty of the natural world and our collective connection to nature 

Recent News: Freya was recently included in the Anomie Review of Contemporary British Painting 2. Her work is currently on view at Alexander Berggruen (1018 Madison Avenue) until August 31st.

Camille Hoffman

Who: Camille Hoffman (b. 1987, Chicago)

Where: New York City 

What: Collages fusing personal ephemera, painting techniques, and recycled materials to reflect on the romantic American landscape, including the pressures of climate change and globalization

Recent News: Camille’s work was recently featured in The Los Angeles Times. Her upcoming installation Motherlands opens at form & concept (Santa Fe) in mid-August.

Jen Dwyer

Who: Jen Dwyer (b. 1988, California) 

Where: Torrington, CT

What: Rococo-like paintings and ceramics adorned with youthful references and rooted in feminist ideology 

Recent News: Jen’s work was featured at Dinner Gallery from March to April for her solo exhibition Garden of Archetypes
